Mechanics and Rules

1. Eight (8) exclusive Havaianas Flip-Floats are up for grabs for fans of the Official Havaianas Philippines Facebook page from April 17 to May 1, 2009.

2. Comment on the album on why you want a Havaianas Flip-Float. Only the first comment per fan will be considered for the online contest.

3. This contest is valid only for fans of Official Havaianas Philippines on Facebook.

4. Limited number of eight (8) Havaianas Flip-Floats will be given away to the fans who post the eight (8) most original comments.

5. Family members and relatives to the 3rd degree of TERRY S.A. employees, sub-distributors, and retailers (including office and store staff) are automatically disqualified from joining the contest.

6. Only fans of Official Havaianas Philippines on Facebook residing in the Philippines, whether in Metro Manila or the provinces (outside of Metro Manila) are entitled to join.

DEADLINE OF ENTRY SUBMISSION: MAY 1, 2009 FRIDAY 6:00PM.
No entries will be entertained for whatever reason after the deadline.

7. The eight (8) exclusive winners shall be announced through the Official Havaianas Philippines Facebook page within two weeks of deliberation by TERRY S.A. officials. Winners will be contacted through personal message on Facebook on or before May 14, 2009, Thursday.

Important: There is absolutely no need to do follow-ups during the duration or after winners have been announced.

8. The eight (8) exclusive winners will be given one whole month to claim the Havaianas Flip-Floats. Failure to redeem within the designated period will forfeit your Havaianas Flip-Float.

9. TERRY S.A./Havaianas Philippines reserves the right to modify mechanics and rules without prior notice for whatever reason they deem valid. The company shall not be held liable for stock availability.

We all know that designer bags are expensive and we must make an extra effort to take care of our beloved fashionable designer bags by learning to keep them properly. I do keep all my bags in their dust bags,  all stuffed with their original stuffing. These are kept in a big closet of shelves, each shelf with 1 humidifier (the 1s in plastic boxes from supermarkets). I also put put desiccants in each bag.

Some pouches and wallet are also kept in dust bags with their boxes.

Every month, I spend an hour to air the bags, inspect these; and general clean the closet.

The best way to maintain the bags, per the experts,  is to use the bag so that the leather doesn’t harden.  So, do not buy bags to hoard — enjoy these as often as possible.

I have sent some bags for repair/replacement of the inner linings (even expensive designer bags’ interiors get “sticky” or damaged due to age or continued long storage)  to Vintage Restore.  Personally, if  your bags just need cleaning — use Applegard.  Vintage Restore charges too much just for cleaning — it is their base price (depends on the bag size) then they add another/other  fee/s  on top of the basic cleaning for any repairs.   But if your bag is very damaged or has lost its luster due to prolonged storage — Vintage Restore can resuscitate your bag.

It’s officially summer and you probably already took that summer getaway last Holy Week but if you are still planning to hit the beach, make sure you pick up the best swimsuit for your body type. Before plunging in the beach, go hit the mall first and make sure you have the right swimsuit to wear.

Here are some tips from The Lucky Shopping Manual by Kim France and Andrea Linett to keep in mind when you go swimwear shopping:

• Find out what body type you have. This understanding helps you pick what fit and style suits you. Knowing your body more will help you embrace and love it more, making you comfortable in whatever shape you have.
• Keep in mind your beach activities when choosing a suit. While a string bikini may be perfect for sunbathing, it may not provide you the support you need when playing beach volleyball, for instance.
• Try on trends. You need not limit yourself to what’s available or what you’re used to. You gain more knowledge about what works for your shape by trying on a wider variety of styles. For instance, you may have overlooked a maillot that fits you perfectly by assuming it wouldn’t look good on you. And you do know trends change from season to season, so why not go for a trendy suit over a more conventional one?
• Move around when trying on swimsuits. While in the fitting room, try to bend, squat, or stretch with the suit on to test the fit and support it provides. Check key areas like the butt, back, breasts, and shoulders if they fit snugly without having to be tugged or pulled constantly.
